lines in my XF86Config but the result from my keyboard is really
different and terrible! ;-)))

Sounds like a problem with your keyboard map type in your XF86Config
file. On my 300mhz powerbook 6gig drive ( which i think is the same
model number as yours ) i have:
Option "XkbRules" "xfree86"
Option "XkbModel" "macintosh"
Option "XkbLayout" "us"
