I'm like Jens, I just got my G5 a couple weeks ago and
have been RTFMing before starting an install. I'll be
willing to help test the debian-installer on the G5.
Let me know when/if there's something available to
test before beta 4.

Well, it took some effort to get hold of yorick and put Debian on him.

Yes. The power4 kernel in debian-installer is hosed. I rebuilt the
kernel from kernel-source-2.4.25 with kernel-patch-2.4.25-powerpc
applied, using the g5_defconfig file from Ben's tree with devfs
enabled. And it worked nicely.

Thanks for the hint, it fixed the kernel loading problem indeed.
Now I'm stuck at the same do_IRQ message that the original poster

somewhere in the netboot directory.

Lucky you. I just tried to netboot a G5, and yaboot fails to load the
kernel via tftp, where previously Open Firmware loaded yaboot and
yaboot.conf from the s
