The pagesize issue does not affect the radeon driver, only the nouveau
driver.
Your issue is different, let me guess, you are using the gdm3 login manager?
You should use xfce desktop and lightdm login manager. I
install lightdm.
Disable gdm3 by performing the following command.

Hi guys it start black screen to me too.
i have a quad g5 with 7800gtx pcie and radeonhd too
with nouveau.noaccel=1 nothing change.
with radeonhd i have the same issue.if i make a xorg.conf the system freeze
with a black screen
the problem affect xorg it crashing with core dump.

this? I'd be interested in seeing what other G5 users have to say. We're a
