PReP can boot off some sort of a cd I think.

Both will hopefully be supported. BootX requires MacOS, and that is
good for the occasional user - but bad for the dedicated user. I do
NOT want a macos partition on my current drive particularly, and
chrp/prep/other assorted rs6000's do not necessarily support macos.

huh? what does this have to do with anything? you mount your debian to
be partition from mklinux, untar the base file, copy the appropriate

you should be able to find a base file on
ftp.infodrom.north.de/pub/linux/linux-pmac/debian/current/
I might have the path screwed up but that should get you close

Dan,
Do you plan to have the installer (and later Linux) launched via broken
firmware or are you incorporating BenH's BootX? I'd advocate the latter if
it isn't too distasteful to require that MacOS be supported and installed
on the machine.

There are 5 of these files in the incoming dir by the looks of them they
appear to be disk images(?) Is this correct? If so is it just the
"base2_1.tgz.2.0.11.4-powerpc" file segmented? If not, are these installer
images? How would one go about writing these to disk.
