Hi,
Glad to hear sound is working for you now. Did you check you had

Hi Rick,
Unfortunately, all three of my Powermac G5 Quad's require the LCS to be
rebuilt.
Until i find the spare time to rebuild the LCS, i wont be building
kernels anytime soon.
I doubt that Debian PPC arch would make an official kernel package
specifically for the PMAC 11.2.
Either way, as

Hi Peter,
It looks like events have caught up with us. There’s now a 4.5.0 kernel in
Debian testing and strong hints that the kernel in Stretch, when it’s released,
will be based on 4.6. So your reconfigured 4.5.0-rc2 kernel is getting
out-of-date.
Which raises a couple of questions:

Hi Logan,
Oh well, cant say we didn't try everything!
So from my recollection, currently the status of Apple OEM or FCODE
flashed nVidia GPU's reported working with nouveau on PPC G5's:
AGP: GeForce 5200.
PCIe: GeForce 6600, GeForce 7800GT, GeForce 7800GTX, Quadro FX4500.

Peter,
Sorry work has been crazy lately. I finally got a chance to try this
tonight...it did not work. No change. We're definitely not having much luck

Hi Anton,
Ok, a few more things to try, I have googled around and found an old
post on the mintppc forum.
Bear in mind this is from 2012 This may or may not still be relevant
or current info, but give it a go.

Hi Peter,
Yes you're right, I did reach out to the Nouveau mailing list. So far I
haven't received any replies on that. I have spoken in #nouveau to

never received much of a response from him..

Hi Logan,
I was hoping that you would reply, i'm curious what your issue is with
nouveau.
I did see that you have placed a message on the nouveau mailing list,
good stuff!
For others interested on the Debian PPC mailing list, i have copied the

The dmesg log might be helpful as well.
Rick
Hi Logan,
H, well at least you updated to much newer packages... but alas, that
didn’t help.
If this only seems to happen when lightdm starts (i.e. xorg starts up) and
not the nouveau fb console, perhaps sending xorg logs may provide more
info...
Otherwise, it may be something to discuss wit
Peter,
Sorry for the delay in following up with this. I got a chance to try the
suggestions you provided in your last message. To your first question, yes
this only occurs when lightdm attempts to start up, the nouveau fb console
seems to work fine. I had not previously blacklisted "nv", but I did
Hi Logan,
On the positive, you do not seem to be having any more EDID issues once you
have switched to the other LCD screen.
But this line seems a worry:

Logan,
I believe that there is a 4.4.0 rc7 kernel up on that same page. I have a
single core 1.8ghz, and that kernel did the trick for me. The 3.18 version
had the same networking problems for me.
Hope I could be of help!

Peter,
I have installed your 4.4.0 kernel. With the same monitor I was using

issue with the other DVI port too:

I tried another monitor and I get a black screen that eventually has

Hi Logan,
Not sure if you have intentionally disabled MSI interrupts for nouveau,
but i believe the MSI interrupts only need to be disabled for PCIe based
nVidia gpu's running the nouveau driver on Powermac G5's only. I have
my doubts that AGP based nVidia GPU's ever have MSI interrupts enable
Peter,
Thanks for your suggestions. Here's a pastebin of my /proc/interrupts:

I'll try one of your newer kernels either tonight or tomorrow when I get
time. I believe I tried your 3.8.16 kernel and had other issues with it.

Hi Logan,
The kernel version is quite old (3.16.7). Perhaps you can try something
newer. Nouveau continually has improvements practically with each newer
kernel version.
Perhaps something to consider, try the easy way out and use a
pre-compiled kernel deb package that i have available. I have
Can you paste an example of the yaboot config so I can see that too? What
kernel version should I try building for my best chance of this working? Is
the 3.16.7 version I built too old? If I grep my kernel config file for
nouveau, I turn up nothing...any other suggestions?

Brock,
It's Jessie 8.2. I looked at yaboot.conf and just changed the vmlinux and
initrd.img symlinks to point to my newly installed kernel in /boot. This
part is working because upon reboot a uname -r reveals my new kernel is
running.
Full dmesg log:

Would you be able to post the full dmesg log? Might help track this one
down a bit quicker. I'm assuming you installed a version of Jessie (8.0 -
8.2)?
You updated your yaboot.conf to boot from the new kernel (or you are
specifying it from boot yaboot menu at startup)?
Thanks,

Hey everyone,
I picked up a dual G5 2.5GHz Power Mac the other day. It has the AGP NVIDIA
GeForce 6800 Ultra card installed. I was hoping to get the nouveau driver
with 2D acceleration working with it, but I have been struggling.
