Looks like this bug is still here, because the patch I wrote a year
ago hasn't found its way to the installer. I have to push harder, I
guess.

This gives a hint about where it all started. Powermac G4 Digital
Audio is a special case. In general, older PPC Macs use snd-powermac
and newer snd-aoa.

Thanks! This did the trick. I removed snd-powermac from /etc/modules and
removed the blacklisted snd-aoa* modules and rebooted. It loaded the
snd-aoa modules and it's working.

Hi,
sound was working on my 12" iBook G4 with an old Ubuntu version, but it
doesn't work now that I cleanly installed wheezy, wiping out everything.
Apparently the system has only a "dummy" sound device. Sound modules
appear to be loaded (including snd_powermac). If I try "alsamixer", I
get "canno
