Heh, oops, I dunno where I got 'Clipper' from. You're right, v2 tiBook is
'tumbler'.

debian's filesystem policy and making it a pain to migrate to a packaged

I reckon the easiest way to install alsa is to grab all the tarballs from
http://www.alsa-project.org/
