77 (as root) /dev/null did not solve the problem. In my case /dev/null had become (nobody knows how) a standard file, so many programs couldn't write on it and the just stopped. Check your permissions, and in case restore /dev/null as should. Hope that helps Edo -- Edoardo Pasca Kamer
