I also see this on my old TiBook G4/400. There is one bad thing I do
have to avoid:
if I forget to unplug a PCMCIA-CF card adapter with a CF card, and
close the lid for sleeping
it will immediately be "dead", i.e. like forced power off.

Yes, I installed yesterday Debian using a 2.6.16-rc1 G5 build, works
OK on the new iMac "iSight". HD access OK, no Windfarm support yet
and no X.

It's a pitty, I just got the DRI working with 2.4.20-pre9-ben0
(the newer 2.4.23 just crashes at 16bpp) but after playing a
while with some 3D rendering (worked OK for a while) the box crashed badly
and after a few seconds some bad harddrive noise occured... and I quicky
power it off and was happy
ire hotplugging (works once after
boot) is kind of bad with this kernel and I really like to use the newer
one...

The m3mirror tool can just enable the mirroring, which works fine.

I've Debian PPC/unstable, kernel 2.4.16-ben with devfs running on my
Ti PowerBook G4 and like to read CF cards in my PCMCIA slot.
