recording with burgundy sound card

Hi, My iMac Rev B has the same problem as in this bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/65823 Is this reported in other places? Has it been solved? If I increase the volume of the microphone in the recording tab of alsamixer, I can make feedback, so it does physically work

mysteriously changing mac address

eth0 hw ether 00:05:02:b7:63:d8 to change it back, it became 00:01:00:05:02:B7. The first 32 bits of my real mac address are stuck onto the end of the field! Has anybody ever seen anything like this before? The next thing I am going to try is what address it uses if I reboot. Thanks for all help.
