I have an old Mac Powerbook 5300c, on which I'd like to install linux.
However, it does not have a CD drive (can't install from CD). It does not
have ethernet port (can't do it over the internet). It does have a floppy

I use my laptop both at home (ppp) and work (ethernet), and I have the
/etc/network/interfaces file configured as:

I am able to execute pmud command as root but not as a regular user. Why?
Is it as matter of changing the permission of /dev/pmu?

For both "apm -s" and "apm -S" at the command line, I get:
"Cannot open APM device: File exists"
Also, when I just type "apm", I get:
"32-bit APM interface not supported".
