Nope, it was a PCI problem -- moved the card to slot 1 (bus 0) and it
works fine now... however, my second ethernet card, which now

The one on Branden's site works for me. However, that error still exists,
but it does work. I'm still having a probl

Check the X Strikeforce page (Branden's page) -- he has resurrected
his XF86 repository. He has the 4.0.1-9pre10 packages there (the
ones that are now semi-working for me, as 4.0.1-8 didn't work at
all). Still fighting with th

Resource ranges are as follows, from my XF logfile. I do not
get the video bios not found warning.

Ok, I removed "UseFBDev" and it didn't make a difference.
X still reports an error trying to read V_BIOS, and the
screen once again went blank and I was forced to reboot.
Any more suggestions?

Legacy reasons I suppose -- thought it was needed at one
point, and thought it was still needed :) Will try
removing it.
Thanks,
Jonathan
Well I've finally got X up, thanks to the 4.0.1-9pre10 packages
Branden built; however, I still cannot get accelerated X to work.
It no longer complains with "no screens found", though -- now
the screen just goes black and X hangs (the system doesn't
hang, however CTRL-ALT-BKSPC doesn't kill X, and
Hello again, I don't mean to bug the XF4 package maintainers
or anything, but does anyone perchance know where one could
find the older phase2 (or anything...) debs? Does anyone
still have them lying around?
Just got my ADSL connection up and the no X thing is killing
me :)
TIA,
Jonathan

Okay, I swapped cards around, and it turns out that *anything* in
PCI slots 3-6 are not correctly configured (this is on a UMAX S900).
I moved the USB card and NIC to slots 1 and 2, and my video card
to slot 4, which appears to be working (although I've not tried
using X yet, as XF86 4.0.1 is curre

Actually, I realize that; however, it is not in xutils-4.0.1-8.
dpkg -L xutils | grep mkfont proves this, and yes I am sure
I do indeed have 4.0.1-8 installed.. am I the only one this has
happened to?
