ik doesn't understand symlinks, so
/vmlinux should be a hard link to /boot/vmlinux-NNN. Also, updating
the kernel image via apt-get or dpkg invariably messes up the links;
you'll have to fix them by hand each time.

Use the "dmasound_pmac" kernel module.

Do "dpkg-reconfigure debconf" as root.

It's even quieter (and cooler) if you remove the graphics card
entirely and run it headless.

Are you sure that the OF variables auto-boot, boot-device, and
boot-file are set correctly in NVRAM?

#x27;s an iterative process:
after you remove some, run it again because there may be more that are
now no longer needed.
But deborphan won't tell you that you don't need some application
package like tuxracer or g++. You'll have to look over the output of
"dpkg -l" and decide that yourself.

You can create a file /etc/modutils/local with the aliases and
module options that are specific to the machine, then run
update-modules (and whenever you change it thereafter).

The Cube uses USB audio. Try "modprobe audio".

Then, list the TTF directories in /etc/X11/xfs/config.
With version XFree86 version 4.x, truetype support is built in and you
don't need xfs at all. Instead, you use

At the risk of living a little more dangerously, you could try running
noflushd (just "apt-get install noflushd") and mounting your disk's
filesystems with the "noatime" option in /etc/fstab. But I've only
done this on
the obnoxious penguin logo after startup.
Are you running devfs? If so, this is a known bug in mingetty:

Using ethereal, I see that the G4 gets the DHCPACK and proceeds to
download yaboot from my TFTP server.
But when I boot holding down the 'N' key, it does something different.
