set properly in the conf file for the monitor
to come alive. But being aware of the rest of the settings definitely helps
too.

Thanks for your suggestions.
I do not see an interface i can use / have cables for at the memory access
panel on the back of my G3.
Gw i have not searched the list (doh!) but i did try to change my xorg.conf
settings as i mention in an earlier message.

OK, I booted the machine into single user mode and:
1) The graphics adapter is an ATI Rage 128. As far as I can tell, it is
properly recognised. (The machine is an iMac G3 @400MHz slot loader by the
way)
