initrd: upgrade kernel from 2.4 to 2.6

hi I've installed Debian GNU/Linux on my Powermac 8200, and currently woody w/2.4 kernels works quite well. When I try to upgrade to 2.6 kernel, the system does not boot and I have to use the boot/root floppy disks to bootstrap the system. So after adding sarge or etch to sources.list: $
