Hi again. Once my Gentoo is up and running, I will have two almost independent Linux boot options. Also, I choose btrfs for my root file systems for the first time. I will be playing with making snapshots shortly. Obviously this all takes time. And the end of Christmas vacation time is coming clo

Hi Andreas, I'm no expert, but perhaps a full dmesg log can help diagnose along with the output of cat /proc/interrupts. You probably already are aware of this, but make sure that nv is blacklisted as nouveau and nv conflict. Lastly, remember the hardware is over 10 y.o. it may be a hardware i

Hello Peter! Thanks for your answer. I am currently installing Gentoo Linux in a chroot from the Debian installation. X.org is actually running, and I switched to a VT which surprisingly works stable in every way. To check it, I just stopped X.org by running "systemctl stop kdm" in one of the cons

Thanks for the response, Andreas. That's kind of what I was figuring. I've transferred home directories before along with /var/mail (due to my old dovecot config) and select files in the /etc directory. It's the standard way I've migrated this "server" from machine to machine as I've used it o

Hello! Apparently the nouveau driver does not work on my Power Mac G5. It is a PowerMac11,2 "Late 2005" model, nvidia GeForce 6600LE (128MB VRAM). PowerPC-based Macs with nvidia cards: http://mac.linux.be/content/nouveau-and-powerpc-apple-machines I found this article: http://powerpcliberation.b
