Thanks to Peter (and others). I took the hint and the 'install64' choice went
smoothly for me. Now to set up some local repositories!

Some people have asked for more detail ... so, here goes...
Machine is a bog-standard iMac G5 (rev B) .
Distribution is Debian Lenny.
Messages I get after booting "install" are as follows (I have listed the
first/important words)
'loading kernel'
'kernel loaded'
'loading ramdisk'
... then the
after reading the mail

Because it shows up as 'ATY' in the Open Firmware device tree, cfr.
drivers/video/offb.c ;-)
