Using the Gnome Networking application under Administration, it can't
autodetect any modem device.

without upgrading to testing
did it to unstable
i think i read it somewhere that this is no good @ debian
should i start once again from installing stable once again?
what i did was
vi-ed sources.list
and
aptitude update
aptitude dist-upgrade several times
as root
things seems
