tried installing last night of daily build
debian-testing-powerpc-net.iso

As a workaround, you could just use a small ext2 /boot partition
containing the kernel and all that.

less processor power than ReiserFS and XFS. I've had failures if the
power goes back out during ext2/3 check/boot. In short, I like JFS.
