ive installed from the deb-ppc debs linked from the mplayer site
mkv works for me on ppc, wmv varies from file to file
mkv is a top notch open format. wmv is a silly windows format

Following up to my own posting:
I did a search for the package using "gnome-themes" but it turned up
empty. Could it be that this package is in the unstable branch? (I was
running it for a while but have since moved to testing.

Greetings,
What is the name of the package that downloads and installs themes from
Gnome-Themes.org?
I had it installed once, and it worked great, but I can't for the life
of me remember the package's name. Anyone know the name of the package?
Thanks for your help.

mkv is matroska and mplayer should support it, the same for wmv.
However these are only "containers", you should look at the video/audio
codec of the file to see if it's supported by mplayer.

Has one got a working fn and eject key working on the above
mentioned kernels?
Tried a modified fn key patch, but doesn't work

Hi, all~
Any way to play .mkv and .wmv files? I've been able to make mplayer play
most video file formats, including .rm and .rmvb, but i've never
succeeded with .mkv files... Any successful stories?
