Hello,
I just tried the debian installer, from
http://gluck.debian.org/cdimage/testing/sid_d-i/netinst/
powerpc/daily/
The base system installed, but the bootloader did not. The installer
said I would need to "boot the kernel by hand using the root=/dev/
hda4 option." I am a new linux user, so

Hi all,
I've tried to compile a custom kernel. I've got the source via
rsync::linuxppc-2.5-benh. When I compile it I get this error message:

Vanilla 2.6.1 was working fine, but 2.6.2 is definitely broken:
1) dmasound_pmac is gone, yet this is the only sound driver that ever worked on
this hardware. Console beep is gone since 2.6, although that's still tolerable.
2) the ALSA substitute (snd_powermac) never worked on this hardware (eit
Hi!
I've just installed Debian on a Power Macintosh 7200.
Everything went fine, except for XFree86 which took some
effort, and ppp, which is still bugging me.
I have installed Debian 3.0r1, and I have not updated or
touched anything. It is more or less a fresh install. I did
install some extra

Hmmm. I'd rather not. riva_get_arch() seems reliable (and we can keep in
sync with XFee86 easily so we don't trip on wrong RIVA_ARCH bugs as I
did recently). I

Hello
How can I get my PowerBook G3 FireWire (aka Pismo) to sleep under
Debian PowerPC? It's running in woody unstable with the current
