I don't seem to be able to get my cdrom working. Long ago it worked.
Now if I type "eject" I get: eject: unable to open `/dev/scd0'
I've now compiled a benh kernel using the iBook config, with IDE support
and SCSI emulation. Am I missing something on modules.conf?

Edit /etc/network/interfaces. See "man interfaces" for details. Here's
an example:
# /etc/network/interfaces -- configuration file for ifup(8), ifdow
dpkg-reconfigure etherconf
if etherconf isn't instaled yet :
apt-get install etherconf

Well, a faster and cleaner dragging of windows, in example.
Look at the arch/i386/config.in hunk and merge it into
arch/ppc/config.in, or try the attached patch. Then, make oldconfig
and so on.

Ah OK. So Xpmac is unsupported, but valkyrie device

I actually didn't compile it - I found a .deb and installed it using
dpkg. I turned authorization off as you said, and now I get a
cooler-looking login screen, along with a little output-only console in
the bottom right. When I enter my name/pas

I think that the Xpmac server doesn't allow this -- trick (but
it is Control and Opt and Function key; I assume you typoed that above.)

Kernel options? Where do I set those?
I set the video driver to the framebuffer one (fbdev I think) but it
doesn't work. (in the real XFree86 that is) - I'll try to set the
video=valkyriefb as soon as someone tells me where I set the kernel
options. Thanks.

The Opt-F1,F2,etc trick wasn't working, and neither does this.
To those who wanted the logs, it was actually at /var/log/xdm.log
And, to those who are saying that it's unsupported, the 'real' X server
doesn't seem to support valkyrie video devices.
The log follows:

Probably a GTK bug, not related to this thread.
I know, I know... ;)
Which isn't very surprising, as they can use parts of the graphics chip
that we don't have specs for, for one.
Sure. Only I remember having installed Mandrake 9.1, and I think vide
