The last couple kernels I have tried failed to boot for me.
I use the same .config file from working kernels to build
new ones.
I just tried a kernel from rsync on bitkeeper downloaded
on the 17th (2.4.21-rc2). I compile these kernels with
gcc 3.2.2/3 When I boot the kernel complains about not b
More info.
It turns out that fopen() works perfectly from a user app that is
compiled directly. ie. the fopen() call is made from the app source
code. If the fopen() is called from within a library, the app just
hangs. It can be killed with ctrl-c. It is not device driver specific
either.

Yes, I'm using ide-scsi for my CDRW drive. The necessary code is compiled
into the kernel and I have the right boot parameter. And the drive shows up
under /dev/scsi/... and not under /dev/discs/...
And to cite the cdrecord output again:
scsidev: '/dev/scsi/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/cd:@'
de
I let the kernel mount the dev file system via boot parameter devfs=mount.
The permission of the cd device is "brw-rw".
I will try strace asap.

Finally got around to taking your advice and installed the
dri-trunk-sid packages:
xserver-xfree86-dri-trunk_2003.05.04-1_powerpc.deb
xlibmesa-gl1-dri-trunk_2003.05.04-1_powerpc.deb
drm-trunk-module-src_2003.05.04-1_all.deb
and compiled and installed the modules.
However, still no joy: it doesn

Hi!
In the near future I intend to invest in a CD-burner. Know I need
to which models work together with Debian3.0. Btw. what program
am I supposed to use when burning CD:s?
For example, is the modell Yamaha CRW3200E working?
