Thanks, Allan, this has been annoying me for a long time.

minimum CPU frequency - maximum CPU frequency - policy
CPU 0 40 kHz ( 57 %) - 70 kHz (100 %) - performance
Does this mean that my G3 700MHz

Well what I've found seems to help is to execute:
fbset -a -accel false
This (to my understanding) disables hardware framebuffer acceleration.
This has stopped the corrupted characters on my consoles. Is there any
way to do this with boot args?
Also I tried to set my keyboard repeat rate using

GNOME 2 (mostly 2.2) is in sid, KDE 3.1 should get there soon, if you
can't wait for it there may be non-Debian apt sources for it. Check

What hardware error your hardware-test-cd has found?
Hi there,
i managed to get a login console on my ibook, but what about X?
I read Branden's guide where he say that XFree 4.2 may be required. But
where to get XFree 4.2? I mean of course it's not in woody, I haven't
found any powerpc backports to woody.
Has anyone got some links/sucess stories fo
I've posted this question before but did not see the answer. I am running
Debian Woody on a PowerMac 6500 with 32 MB RAM. I am just using the

I've noticed some problems with the console, specifically when I edit text

Hello,
my iBook is damaged, so it doesn't boot anymore properly for more than
2-5 minutes. Therefore I will return it, but I want to remove yaboot
first, so they can't say it was my fault and a software error.
Unfortunately it doesn't live long enough to just reinstall macOS X so I
have to do it
Thanks for everybody's help. I rebooted my machine
