Hi,
I just tried using an external CRT on my 600MHz dual USB iBook,
using the latest benh kernel, aty128fb and m3mirror. I made
following observations:
When I boot the iBook with the screen connected, turn the LCD off
and switch then to modes other than 1024x768-xx, it seems to update

I updated from sid on my powermac 8500 a couple days ago. I had two
problems with the configuration of an updated package, I'm pretty sure
it was the xserver-xfree86 package. I have 4.1.0-13 now (PowerPC).
I'm reporting this to the Debian-PowerPC list because the first problem

Oops, I'm dumb.
The reason my XF86Config-4 was changed was because of debconf, and the
reason that my display was working with the modelines was that
I had not yet restarted X!
I thought that debconf changed things long time ago, but I guess I've been
logged in for longer than that...
Oh well.

Hi,
I've finally been able to get the iBook dual-USB's i2c modem to work and
dialup to my ISP.
The problem lies in the modem's firmware. If you haven't updated the
modem firmware, the modem won't be able to connect at v.90 for some
ISPs. (I verified by dialling up from MacOS X, it didn't work for

Well, the iMac is somewhat unusual, because for the 3 resolutions
supported, only one refresh rate is allowed. These refresh rates
are a bit higher than you find normally.

This analysis is correct, but unfortunately too generic. :)

xmon doesn't help anything in that regard. If it's still running, that
just means it was an oops, not a panic. You should reboot ASAP nevertheless
because kernel structures may be corrupted.

Speaking of hfs(+), has anyone tried to make gnome-vfs or kioslave

I tried Modes "current" and it still didn't work.
Fortunately I found Ryan Gordon's XF86Config-4 file,
which had mode lines he had found to work with the
iMac. Once I had manually set the mode lines,
everything worked beautifully. I didn't even know
you still could set the mode lines manually in

It isn't mounted. Use hdir and hcopy to use it.

Hehe. The Compose key is used for getting Umlaute, and all those
other special characters from ISO-8859 as well. Pressing first the
