The glibc rules aren't responsible for "finding" anything. They are
responsibl
I used to recommend something like "XkbModel" "pc104" for Linux keycodes.
By actually reading the descriptions in the debconf interface, I learned that
the new "macintosh" is for that purpose.
So my updated recommendation is "XkbModel" "macintosh_old" for ADB keycodes
and "XkbModel" "macintosh"
Is there a tool that can be used to set the audio level stored in PRAM on
Mac hardware? Can ntsetenv be used for this?
I've found an init for MacOS that sets the stored audio level to 0 on
reboot to supress the boot-chime, and sets it back up on boot, and I
thought it would be nice to have the sa

Maybe someone who has MacOS could save a snapshot of the nvram, boot
MacOS, frob the volume, then take another snapshot

I stand corrected. We use

I'm pretty sure that they're not 100% the same. Let's hope that makes the
difference. :)

I don't think it's that off topic: perhaps there is something in the
difference between x86 and ppc. OTOH, maybe it's just a bad message: it tells
you false information. My Zope works fine on m68k, and I get the "failed"
message.

Hey Everyone,
I'll compose this message while I can't reach lists.debian.org to search the
archive...
I've rsynced the latest benh kernel, configured sound and all associated
modules, yet I've got no sound. Sound works just fine with my 2.2.18 kernel,
so where's the difference between the old

I updated my gdm from woody to sid, and it does solve the problem that I
was reporting (gdm now comes up nicely after logging out) but I find now
that my System menu in GDM is n

No, in this case it was quite clearly correct. The zdaemon would
totally fail to start because it couldn't get the local host's name.

Are there other folks on the list who have experienced the problem of gdm
not relaunching after logging out of a gnome session? This has been a
persistant problem for me for a long time (at least since i was running
LinuxPPC R5).
gdm had actually been behaving fine for me recently, until I update
I believe that PCMCIA is support to work for PowerPC, not just i386.
Is anyone on this list able to build the pcmcia-cs and
pcmcia-modules-* relevant to the kernel we use for boot-floppies (we
use 2.2.19 and 2.2.19-pmac) ? I know the pcmcia build can be a little
funky, but if someone's adventuro

no, nvsetenv only sets OpenFirmware environment variables, there is no
such variable that controls the bo
