I am working on the problem as well... and I think I can give you a couple of answers... Thanks to many "contributots" (especially Martin) I tried 10s of kernel images on my Rs/6000 43P model 140. The machine always hangs, but I don't think it actually crashes when initalizing the console. Infa

Hello, ... i did put the XF68_FBDev executable for the X server with geert's fbdev accel patches at : http://master.debian.org/~luther/xserver/ i could not build the package, but this should work as well, just copy it to /usr/X11R6/bin/XF68_FBDev_accel, and change the name of the server in /etc/
