mirrors. I think they are not working proper

i'm almost certain this is a symptom of the fact that accel is
incompatible with modes "default" on ati hardware at least. it sounds like
the problem i saw. disable accel or don't use modes default.
geert is aware of this problem but he has more pressing things he's
working on.

I downloaded the latest base2_1.tgz. I found that there is no
/dev/hda* after /dev/hda8... This caused me trouble because my
root partition for Debian is /dev/hda10 (I also have hda11 and
hda12).
Shall I report this in the Debian bug tracking or not (what is
the exact name of the package ?).
