ollow procedure to get your idea acted on:
-> file a bug report against policy, *including an appropriate diff*
-> Cc the report to this list...
if you can get consensus, then get policy amended and file a report against
lintian.
I'll be one of your seconds if you do this.

like to point something out. My original message was referring
to the *original version* of *ben's* proposal, not the autobuilder gcc
sit-in hack. In my mind the latter shouldn't even be considered.

Just to clarify for Joey, I seconded this proposal in my last message.

There are three kinds of people in
away with this confusion?
If it's still needed, I second this proposal.
Also, if I'm not mistaken, our social contract acgnowledges the existence of
non-free software, even admits that it's necessary sometimes. Who are we to
dictate what others use? Shouldn't we distribute that softw
here as well.
I officially second this proposal.

I second approach 1c.
1b sounds hackish, and 1a and 2 require too many changes. But this is
something that needs to happen

This is a good idea because: What if Hurd were suddenly forked, and some new
OS appeared under a different microkernel? If this OS still bore the name
Hurd, and the Hurd code was eventually merged to be source compatible with
multiple MK's, *then* what would happen???
We just
y can be reverted
and defaults can be set as you suggest. Everything that does not yet conform
to this area of policy gets a bug.
This is simply a basic tenet of wide-scale project management.

What kind of proposals have come forth to somewhat flatten the ftp archives?
If none have I have a few ideas in mind...

I'm just curious, is there such an organization within debian at
this time?
