Both the changelog and the copyright files are stored with a package's
normal data (within data.tar in the .deb) but they are really package
metadata (that should be part of control.tar in the .deb).
Hi,
I have created a Lintian branch for detecting insufficient stripping of
static libs[1]. On a related note, dh_strip seems to do "the right
thing(tm)" so any package using debhelper (correctly) should already
strip static libs. Though I did not check if it can do detacted symbols...
