Fixing it apparently requires upgrading to gstreamer0.8.

Did you try to use the OSS emulation layer ?
If you do not have a multichannel soundcard you loose nothing using
ALSA's OSS support.

Hi people!
I have used gstreamer over OSS, but now, I want to use him directly
over ALSA. When I change the configuration using gstreamer-preferences
and run a test, I got this message and no sound.
Someone know what's happen???
