Working on other packages?

What's the team's policy WRT working on other packages of the team? It's because I was watching at the bugs page for the team, and there seem to be some that are easy to fix. So... I just get the svn, fix the bug and commit, or should I send a patch to the BTS? I ask because the wiki says: > All
