I have the following line in my /etc/apt/apt.conf:
DPkg::Build-Options "-rfakeroot -b -uc";
This should configure apt-get -b source to create unsigned
binary packages as a normal user (provi
lib-dummyg1'.
(eg. acidwarp)
What are the pros/cons of each of these methods? Is there another
generally accepted solution to this problem that I haven't found?

A reasonable incantation to do this in the makefile is:
ifneq (,$(findstring alpha, $(shell /usr/bin/dpkg-architec
file to list all the
manpages to be installed for a particular package. This is helpful if a
package has more than one manpage. See dh_installman(1) for more info.

Colin,
Does this mean that I have convinced you as to the merits of this
proposal (ie. using WNPP for sponsorship requests)?

Build-Depends are: debhelper (>> 4.0.0), libsdl1.2-dev (>= 1.2.2-3.1),
libsdl-mixer1.2-dev, libsdl-image1.2-dev, sharutils.
Package (source and i386 binary for sarge) is

- debian/control: Build-deps -= sharutils.
- debian/rules: remove references to uudecode.

Also, you should peruse the list archives[0]. At lot of the same issues

making sure that upstream's makefile doesn't stomp on CFLAGS
unnecessarily (ie. they should use += instead of := or = ).
