I noticed that rpncalc uses Standards-Version: 3.6.6. Is that correct?
Lastest is "3.6.2". You do not need to list the minor patch level .1

2. control file have 'Build-Depends: debhelper (>= 4.0.0),
autotools-dev'. Generated .deb have 'Depends: ... libncurses5 (>= 5.4-5),
