IANADD, yet I find some issues in your package:
1. Your packages depends on grep (>= 5), yet the latest version of grep
in Debian is something like 2.5. What's so important about grep version
anyways ?

changing the upstream source. Just use dh_install to handle the
installation of the scripts.
