The default Python release in Debian Sid (and testing?) is now 2.2, so
should I change the package to call "python" and change the requirements
to Depends: python?

The only serious problem I know of is that this file is missing an
explicit license. The RPM spec file states that the package is GPLd, but
COPYING is empty. I have mailed upstream about this.
