pgp 2.6.x with 1024 is usual, if you are able to use 2048, use it.

The signature looked for is that of the last author in the
debian/changelog file. To change that, use
% dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot -m
dpkg-buildpackage -h is quite informative. You can also
instruct it not to sign anything.
