i'm using my non-stripped builds from
http://daniel.debian.net/packages-other/qemu/ in order to use kqemu
(debians stripped ones do not work with kqemu) and it does perfectly work.
nevertheless, i've rerun it with the stripped qemu 0.9.

i succeded in rebuilding a bootable image using the config files from
http://svn.debian.org/wsvn/debian-live/configs/
but during the boot process i receive the following:

The initramfs seems to miss some cdrom drivers :
