Dear Debian Admin,
when I tried to download Debian 10.0.0 via Distrowatch I was surprised
to be asked for my admin password at the end of the download plus there
was another window requesting something else. I cancelled them both and
could not find the downloaded file.

I just tried the 1st link and it works fine, I tried the second link
and I get a 404 not found.
The distrowatch link in the reply above works as it should, there is
no 403 forbidden on that page for me.

I suspect that whatever you were downloading with tried to automatically open
the iso file with some kind of write-image-to-disk app, which would require
root privileges.

Hm. Both work for me. But they deliver different ISOs.
"gnome" versus "cinnamon".
So the original report by Rick might be a URL patchwork from two different
attempts to download.
