I don't think the official iso images are built with Live Build anymore, I
think you'll find they are built with Live Wrapper.

It does, normally, but since live-build supports multiple possible
desktops, it preseeds the appropriate variables

First up, your frontend is a very good idea. All i miss is the option
for custom packages-lists.
But I have to report a bug in the build system. I have changed the
distribution to squeeze and as packages list I chose rescue. All other
option have not been touched.
