Hi David,
I presume you may be hitting the same problemas I had. Please check that
the machine running the live image has enough RAM.
In my attempts on kvm/qemu, 128 MB RAM was not enough; you may consider
increasing it. QEMU by default has a very low limit. See previous posts
about this on the l
he universe, with no kernel panics.

These images were built using the live-build package from jessie (4.0.3-1).

Sorry, when I said updates on Debian 7.8 I mean Debian 8.2, the latest
updates to jessie, as I did a dist-upgrade on the box used for the test
builds.
