Is ext4 a good choice for the live-rw partition? I've been using ext2,
but I recall reading some benchmarks that showed ext4 being faster (even
with the journal, I think).
If I use an ext4 live-rw on a flash drive, is it recommended to disable
journaling? (If so, any pointers on how to do that?)

I need to do data recovery on a recent Mac that has an Intel processor.
Do I use a regular i386 version of debian live, or is there something
special about the Macs?
Thanks for the help.

Is there a file that saves common settings and switches for lb? Maybe
~/.lb or ~/.live-builder? If not, I think it would be a great addition.
I do a lot of experimenting with live-builder, and my lb config line
always contains certain switches (like --apt-http-proxy,
--mirror-binary, etc.)

I'd like to hear how folks on this list are using net images of Debian
Live.
I'm a longtime user of LTSP, which boots thin clients over the network
which then run applications remotely on the LTSP server. This is great
for low power clients, but for newer clients I'd like to move some of
that p

I spotted this article today, linked from debian-news.net:
http://maketecheasier.com/create-custom-debian-live-cd-through-the-web/2010/09/14
It contains some useful comments regarding usability of the website.
Thought the devs might be interested.

How do I set up syslinux to boot a default kernel after a certain amount
of time? I tried editing /live/image/syslinux/live.cfg, but nothing
I've tried has worked so far. I think I'm getting the "default" syntax
wrong, because the "timeout" syntax is pretty easy.

I just made my first build with live-helper 2.0~a3-1. I needed to use
the --interactive flag in my build, but it did not work. I initially
had "--interactive enabled", which is how I did build in previous
versions of live-helper. But this version requires "--interactive
true".

I have a Lenny live persistent system which I use on several different
laptops. One laptop just got re-installed and has an ext4 partition.
For some reason, I can't boot with persistence on this laptop anymore.
I get a message from live-premount stating that /dev/hdc3 could not be
mounted.

One of my USB flash drives loses data so often that I won't use it

Anyway, I've run "badblocks" on it several times and it always turns up
nothing. Is there a better utility I should be using to check (and
hopefully mark) bad spots

I am using Debian Live on USB, with an ext2 partition for persistence.
I get frequent filesystem corruption. I've used 3 different USB sticks,
but I still get these problems.
Have others on this list experienced this kind of thing, or am I just
using crummy hardware?

When using a snapshot file, live-snapshot performs all its writes at shutdown
time, but it does not notify the user. A "please wait" notice would be nice
so that the user doesn't think the system has hung.

This page in the manual says "Snapshots cannot currently handle file

delete a file, but I just tested it and

I'm using Debian Lenny Live in persistent mode on a USB stick. I'm using wicd
as my network manager. The first computer I use gets eth0 assigned.
The second computer gets eth1 assigned. (ethX are remembered in
/etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules).
This causes me problems with wicd. Whe
