It defaults to stretch because the base configuration in live build
live config has not been changed by the maintainer. You could file a
bug report on it if you want.

buster" and it worked!! I wonder why it was defaulting to stretch?

I have a clean install of Debian buster and when I do "lb config" to
create a config directory it says "stretch" instead of buster.
Live-build is package is included in buster so why is it when building
the config directory it says "stretch". I tried it on 2 systems that
have a clean install

create >100 debian live-sticks ~tomorrow for school kids out of which probably
99% will have access to computers running windows with an RTC set to local
time.. utc=no as boot parameter doesn't quite
