eve Flick also works with
TAO. Perhaps it will help with TAO's current non-free status, too.

can convince Sun to ease up on the license
could you please let me know since TAO's license is pretty much the
same and I'd like to see it be less restrictive?
Thanks,

Hi,
If someone hasn't done so already, then I'll submit a bug report for
the OmniORB Debian package regarding the below Sun License/non-free
issues.
Thanks to everyone for all the help/comments I received.

enough influence to get Sun to change the terms of its licenses for IIOP
1.0 (for TAO) and the IDL CFE (for OmniORB)?

Guys, I'm not looking to start another flame war. If you guys decide
that TAO should stay in non-free then I have no problem with that.
However, I do believe that we need to examine OmniORB's status more
closely, IMHO.
Thanks for any clari
the main distribution.

really like to make TAO a part of the main distribution so I am trying to
make both the TAO developers and Debian see eye to eye. It doesn't seem
to be working but I am trying.

e to modify TAO when
such a situation already exists. It so happens that patches don't become
official until they go through Doug Schmidt's research group. If this
isn't acceptable perhaps someone should tell Linus he shouldn't be the
only one to make Linux patches officia
uments, especially
since they were the TAO license authors.
Can we please agree that TAO is free and that it doesn't have to be
installed under non-free?
