What would I ndeed to do in order to tell the new pcmcia-cs system to
load the axnet_cs driver instead of pcnet_cs?

Dear IBM user,
I have a Thinkpad A30p. Unfortunately, I have lost my Recovery CDs, and guess what, IBM does not sell the Recoverys So, please help me out, and send me a copy of your Recovery. Shipments and all costs will be paid of course!
Yours sincerely,

I was surprised to find that the "large sum of money" which they send
to you can take the form of a bank cashier's check. It may take
several days before your bank discovers that the check is no good, and
then sticks you for the amount. The scammer hopes, of course, that
you have already sent him
but the fn-keys didn't produce any event.
Or, if there is no way for using the FN-Keys: How can I toggle between LCD
and External Screen (like a Beamer)?
Thanks for any hint,
Tom.

re: The Toshiba
specific kernel module won't work.
But it's not a big problem. The only thing that doesn't work without the
kernelmodule are the fn-keys. The suspend to disk and suspend to RAM works
fine with the standart ACPI-modules (Sarge with Kernel 2.6.12.2).

al run level is 3 so I startx at a command prompt and I would
like to start Gnome, and occassionally Blackbox, instead of KDE.
If you are using 'startx' then you need to modify or create your ~/.xinitrc and stick whatever you want to run in there.
(eg "exec gnome-session"
Quick answer from someone with wireless (though not yours and not 'g'):
wireless-tools should be enough
After that 'iwconfig' should show your wireless device, at which point you can configure it by adding it to /etc/network/interfaces (See 'man interfaces').
only
thing I don't like about my debian laptop.
I hope there is a cure for this ;-)
Is it an LCD and if so do you have the "proper" resolution set?
