I think on debian-cd's is a from dos bootable linuxkernel.
It's named when i right remember loadlin.com or loadlin.exe.
Maybe this is a possibility.

I run debian mostly 2.0 with kernel 2.2.13, xserver-neomagic 1.1.0-1-1 on a
Gateway solo 2500.
Runs just great except:
1. When i close the display and open it again, then i only get a white
screen. The only way to get the screen back is C-A-BS and new login.

Then the HD slows down and wakes up a few seconds later and the
message shows up.
Somebody told me, it has to do with firmware in the disk.

Similar thing to me, have a Circom PCMCIA for travel and a USR Sportster from
Germany at home.
Sportster gives me 48000 to 5 each connection.
Xircom at exactly the same outlet 26000 to 28800.
Electrical power goes weird ways!

The card works fine in my worklaptop (Gateway 2500).
It does not work in the old Contura.
