I've got one old and one new question. First the new one:
1. I'm trying to set up an Epson Color Stylus 740 printer. I followed
the HOWTO and got the apsfilter package. My problem is that this
package doesn't seem to have a filter for the Epson 740. I tried the
only Epson filter that looked p
I am running slink on an IBM 560Z with 128Meg of RAM. Only 64Meg are
being seen (as evidenced from doing "dmesg"). Now, I have seen in
various HOWTOs that this is expected, and the solution is to build the
kernel with "newmem" set. However, I'm puzzled. Two guys at my
office built their system
Hi,
Yes, the BIOS does pick up the memory. This machine dual boots NT,
and NT has no problem seeing all 128Meg. However, in Linux, at boot
time I just get:
Memory: sized by int13 088h
Console: 16 point font, 400 scans
Console: colour VGA+ 80x25, 1 virtual console (max 63)
pcibios_init : BIOS
Thanks to all those who responded to my question about memory beyond
64Meg on an IBM 560Z Thinkpad.
Thanks to the suggestions, I solved the problem by adding
append="mem=130496k"
to my lilo.conf. The funny memory number (i.e. NOT 128M) is needed
because the Thinkpad hardware grabs the highe
Hello again,

Just to second the motion. I am running kernel 2.0.38 on a Thinkpad
560Z. I live with "crash on suspend" all the time, making working on
batteries pretty impractical!
One day I'll have the time to upgrade to a 2.2.x kernel!
