the same thing yesterday, i didn't know the synaptics driver was
removed - but that would certainly explain the problem.
I did this to fix it, restart X and hal afterwards:

Absolutely, i would have reported the bug, but i didn't know which
package to report it on.
Is it HAL, X or the synaptics package which is at fault?
o much for it. If i had
to chooce between extra MHz extra HD or extra RAM, i think i would go for RAM,
that would make compiling c, running python and translating latex documents, a
lot easier.
Just my 5 cents.

I use it to setup the proxy according to where i am, and also to switch
between different X configuration files, since i have two monitors at
home (well one additional to the one on the laptop).
Debian packages are available from:
deb http://dev.infon
fine it using a nice graphical user interface.
But i'm still waiting to see what Red Hat manages to come up with in
their network-manager tool.
Just my 5 (euro) cents.
