Mouse cursor corrupted on "BAT LOW" warning

If I let my battery get too low, the BIOS brings up a "BAT LOW" warning. After that happens, my mouse cursor gets changed to be the words "BAT LOW". There does not seem to be a way to disable this feature of the BIOS. If I switch to a virtual console and then back to X, the mouse reverts to b
