Anyone,
I recently got the newest Dell Latitude CPx laptop and I've installed it with
stable 2.2.18. I've got about everything worked out but the sound and the
parallel printer port. I need help with the parport. It won't work. Here's
everything I can think of to help:
- parport and parpor
Well, it's still doesn't work. I've added an options line in the
/etc/modules.conf file specifying io=0x378 dma=3 irq=7. With lp reloaded, I
see in the /proc/parport/0 that these options are set and that my printer is
being seen. The syslog shows the following:

On the sound, the chipset is the ESS Maestro 3 which so new there are no

ough. I reinstalled magicfilter after and I'm printing in full
color from all my applications.

program like "GHOST" to copy this disk image to the other machines. I haven't
done this, but I seen it done.

I have a Dell CPx, either the H or the J series, I'm not sure. This baby is
sweet! I'm running stable 2.2.18 and it's extremely stable (imagine that!).
This system also uses the maestro3 and with ALSA sound works nicely. With both
batteries in the bays the meter says I have over 10 hours on
The ALSA driver does this fine. I don't know about the opensource drivers.
